Welcome to Australia! (Year 2)
Class Information
In Class Australia our teachers encourage us to always try our best and never give up. We look after our friends and celebrate our achievements together.
Our Australia class teacher is Miss Luczyszyn, we also have our amazing teaching assistants Miss Baker, Miss O’Connor and Mrs Grimes.
Zones of Regulation
Every child has created an individual plan to help them to regulate their emotions so that they are ready for learning. Each morning and afternoon session begins with a ‘check in’ where we discuss our emotions, take part in class yoga and breathing activities. Pupils can also request individual ‘check ins’ with adults.
Water bottles
Please remember to bring in your school water bottle every day. Water is very good for our brains! Water bottles will be sent home every night to be washed and refilled ready for the next day. School water bottles can be bought from the office.
PE
Australia have PE on a Wednesday.
Pupils must wear their PE kit into school. For outdoor PE, pupils can wear a tracksuit. Other kit can be a white T-shirt, black shorts/leggings and pumps or trainers.
Homework
Australia will receive their homework every Friday. It will consist of Handwriting, phonics and Maths work. We also encourage you to access you Times Table Rockstars and Numbots account.
We hope to become super readers but we need your help. Please try and read with your child every night or work on the sounds which have been sent home, which are linked to our learning in school. Really focus on asking questions about their book as this will help them with their reading comprehension. When children are ready they will begin to access our reading scheme which allows them to choose books at the right level and take quizzes to check their understanding.
