School Lunches
School meals are provided by Food for Thought (Merseyside) Ltd https://foodforthoughtschools.co.uk/ which is a unique ‘not for profit’ healthy school meals caterer. The company is owned and managed by its partner schools with any surplus created being re-invested in our local community schools.
Food For Thought – Parent Carer Information Pack
We would like to thank Food for Thought for the grant received to enable the school to create a sensory room in Key Stage 1.
Pupils may choose to take a cooked meal or bring their own packed lunch to school.
At Gwladys Street Community Primary and Nursery School, we provide freshly prepared and cooked meals daily on the premises.
The cost of a school meal for pupils in Key Stage 2 is £2.00 per day (£10.00 per week) and is required to be paid in advance. However, if your child is in Foundation Stage 2 (Reception), Year 1 or Year 2, your child is automatically entitled to a universal offer of a free school meal. Please do not confuse this with the ‘Free School Meal’ entitlement if you are on certain benefits (more information about this can be found below).
Parents can make payments online via ParentPay https://www.parentpay.com/
All children have access to water throughout the day, milk is also provided at lunchtimes free of charge.
Packed Lunch
Pupils who bring in packed lunches should have a suitable container containing a cold meal, hot meals are not allowed as we are unable to meet food standards regulations in regards to temperature control. If you provide grapes, these MUST be cut in half.
Please note;
- Please ensure that all containers are marked with the child’s name and class.
- Glass bottles or canned drinks should not be brought into school.
- We are a NUT FREE school. Any products containing nuts are not allowed on the premise.
