Welcome to New Zealand! (Year 2)
Class Information
In Class New Zealand our teacher encourages us to always try our best and never give up.
Our New Zealand class teacher is Mrs Cooper and our fabulous teaching assistants are Mrs Grimes and Miss O’Connor.
Zones of regulation
In New Zealand we believe in helping each other regulate our emotions. Every child has created there own individual plan to regulate their own emotions. Each morning and afternoon we use our ‘check in’ times to discuss our zones of regulations and emotions. We also love to take part in Yoga and mindfulness sessions to make sure we are ready to learn.
Water bottles
Please remember to bring in your school water bottle every day. Water is very good for our brains! Water bottles will be sent home every night to be washed and refilled ready for the next day. Please make sure they are bottles which have a sports cap. Any other bottles will not be allowed.
PE
New Zealand have PE on a Wednesday.
Please make sure that your child comes to school in their PE kit as most of our PE will be outside, please ensure they are wearing a tracksuit. Other kit can be a white T-shirt, black shorts/leggings and pumps or trainers.

Homework
New Zealand will receive their homework every Friday. It will consist of a Read Write Inc video which follows sounds we have been learning in class, some Maths work and Timestable Rockstars and Numbots.
We hope to become super readers but we need your help. Please try and read with your child every night. Really focus on asking questions about their book as this will help them with their reading comprehension. Reading books are changed each Friday. Please keep the same book all week and re-read it to help develop your child’s confidence and fluency.
Class Dojo
Please follow us on our class dojo page to find out about all the hard work that we get up to.
